On December 13 of the local time, the inaugural meeting of YRCTI Zambia Alumni Association was held at the KGL HPP, Zambia with the presence of Wang Weidong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of YRCTI and Executive Vice-president of the Alumni Association, Ji Yao, Deputy Director of Liaison and Cooperation Department, teachers of Zambia Dayu School, and some Chinese and foreign alumni representatives working in Zambia.

During the meeting, Wang Weidong expressed congratulations on the founding of the YRCTI Zambia Alumni Association and gratitude towards the preparation team for their endeavor. He also introduced the development achievements obtained by the Institute over the past few years and stated that the Zambia Alumni Association was the first overseas YRCTI alumni association, providing an exchange and cooperation platform for alumni of YRCTI working in Zambia and even the African Continent. He requested that the YRCTI Zambia Alumni Association must contact the alumni through various channels, build cohesion, seek a shared development and allow the alumni association to be a spiritual hometown to the massive alumni in Zambia. Then, he expressed the expectation that the alumni could keep the motto of “integrity, innovation, entrepreneurial and ability” in mind, realize the continuous self-improvement, never-ceasing advancement, and forever pursuit of excellence, thus playing their distinct roles in the construction of “Belt and Road” Initiative, obtaining achievements and add to the glory of YRCTI. The alumni were also encouraged to concern about the development of YRCTI and go back for visit.

Afterward, Wang Weidong issued the certificate for the director of the Zambia Alumni Association and recalled the past with the participants. The alumni stated that they would carry out the work under the regulations of the alumni association, serve the alumni, build the cohesion and develop the YRCTI Zambia Alumni Association the home to alumni of YRCTI in Zambia and even across Africa to build the China-Zambia and even the Sino-African friendship bridge.
