YRCTI attached great importance to the severe COVID-19 epidemic and quickly set up a novel Coronavirus epidemic prevention and control leading group and a special group for Foreign Students. The Novel Coronavirus Epidemic Prevention and Control Emergency Plan of the Yellow River Conservancy Technical Institute and the Novel Coronavirus Epidemic Prevention and Control Plan for Overseas Students were formulated. A four-level prevention and control system of “school-department-class-counselor” was set up to actively prevent and control the epidemic. At present, in view of the special situation of overseas students, relevant departments, Party organizations at the community level and Party members of YRCTI have made concerted efforts, taken multiple measures, provided considerate services for international students to ensure their physical and mental health, and resolutely carried out epidemic prevention and control work.

The health of overseas students is highlighted by all management cadres and the prevention and control working group of YRCTI. The management team of overseas students from the Liaison and Cooperation Department, the School of International Education, the School of Civil and Traffic Engineering, and the School of Information Engineering arranges daily duty schedule, situation monitoring, and temperature taking, and updates and reports the data in real time. The Table of Destinations for Winter Vacation, Information Report Table, Open Letter to Overseas Students, Epidemic Report and Prevention Knowledge, and other materials represent YRCTI’s responsibility towards overseas students. The timely delivery of masks, disinfectants, daily supplies, and food reflect YRCTI’s care for the students.

According to the notice of the Provincial Department of Education, YRCTI has decided to postpone the start of the spring semester in 2020. In order to guarantee the continuous study of overseas students, the teaching team has held many online teaching and research meetings, preparing for the online live teaching, platform-based independent learning, WeChat tutoring, etc. for overseas students.

As required by comprehensive epidemic prevention and control, in order to ensure the safety of more than 130 overseas students and protect them from infection caused by going shopping abroad, YRCTI opened the canteen and campus supermarket early to provide daily meals according to the students’ tastes and needs. Moreover, it ensured the supply of their daily necessities.

The Party branches and Party members also played an active and exemplary role. Several Party branches sent urgently needed protective items, such as masks and 84 disinfectants, as well as daily supplies, such as instant noodles and mineral water, to overseas students.

The virus is merciless but there is love in the world. People of the Yellow River Conservancy Technical Institute made concerted efforts to set up a line of defense for epidemic prevention and control for overseas students.
