In the selection competition of China competition area, the representative team of YRCTI stood out from nearly 4,000 competitors in China and participated in the competition on behalf of China. In the competition, the contestants showed their exquisite operation skills, strong innovation ability, learning ability, good team cooperation ability, high professional quality and comprehensive quality. They also exchanged skills and learned from each other with teachers and students from BRICs countries, and established a deep friendship. During the competition, Mr. Buti Manamela, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training Department of South Africa, came to supervise the competition in person, and visited the competition venue of YRCTI for exchanges and guidance.

BRICS Skills Development & Technology Innovation Competition and International Alliance of Skills Development (IASDBR) were the important achievements during China's rotating presidency of BRICS in 2017. The competition was jointly sponsored by the BRICS Business Council and Higher Education and Training Department of South Africa, and undertaken by Manufacturing Engineering and Related Service SETA (MerSETA) of Higher Education and Training Department of South Africa. The theme of the competition was "Current and Future Skills", which aimed to build an international platform for experience exchange and sharing among skilled talents in BRICS countries. A total of 143 contestants from 5 countries including South Africa, Brazil, Russia, India, and China participated in 14 competitions, and a total of more than 2,000 people participated in international seminars, industry 4.0 youth forums and other related competitions.
