On the morning of July 27, Zambia Dayu School was inaugurated at Kafue Gorge Lower Hydropower station in Zambia. Xu Yan, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Yellow River Conservancy Technical Institute (YRCTI), and Zhou Qingguo, Director of the Kafue Gorge Lower Construction Bureau under Sinohydro Bureau 11 Co., Ltd. (Hereinafter referred to as Construction Bureau), attended the opening ceremony. More than 60 people, including the leadership team of the Construction Bureau,  the heads of Academic Affairs Office, Liaison and Cooperation Department, School of Water Conservancy and Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering and other departments, along with related personnel, teachers of Zambia Dayu School and Zambian students participated in the unveiling ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Chen Desheng, Deputy Secretary of Construction Bureau.

Xu Yan delivered a speech, expressing his appreciation to Sinohydro Bureau 11 Co., Ltd. for its support for the development of the Yellow River Conservancy Technical Institute over the years, and congratulating on the establishment of Zambia Dayu School. He pointed out that YRCTI has been focusing on the national development strategy and carrying out international talent training and technical cooperation with "going global" enterprises, which actively contribute to the construction of the water conservancy industry and the development of enterprises. YRCTI and Sinohydro Bureau 11 Co., Ltd. jointly established the Zambia Dayu School to cultivate the local technical skills of welding, mechanical maintenance, measurement and other professional talents that Zambia urgently needs. It is an important achievement of the long-term friendly school-enterprise cooperation. Moreover, it is an important measure to serve the "Belt and Road" initiative. Both YRCTI and Sinohydro Bureau 11 Co., Ltd. were born and prospered by the Yellow River and have witnessed each other’s progress and development. He hoped that both sides will further expand the scope and depth of cooperation in the future and make contributions to the development of water conservancy and hydropower in Zambia and southern Africa.

Zhou Qingguo extended a warm welcome to Xu Yan and his team. He said that the establishment of Zambia Dayu School is of milestone significance to both YRCTI and the enterprise, which witnessed the beginning of deep cooperation between the two sides. With our excellent professional teachers and high-quality teaching resources, Dayu School will cultivate more technical talents for Zambia, so as to continuously provide more talents for China's hydropower overseas projects and better help enterprises achieve localized development.

Subsequently, the leaders of the two sides jointly inaugurated Zambia Dayu School, and had fruitful discussions on the future development of the school and the in-depth cooperation between the University and the enterprise. Both sides agreed to further expand the school and build it into a model for overseas cooperation between colleges and enterprises by formulating medium- and long-term cooperation plans, improving the school's specialties and curriculum, selecting excellent local students to study in China, and sharing resources.

During the visit, Zhou Qingguo accompanied Xu Yan and his team to visit Kafue Gorge Lower Hydropower station project, the classrooms and training venues of Zambia Dayu School. They had a cordial exchange with Zambian students, encouraging them to study hard and make contributions to the social and economic development of Zambia. Xu Yan and his team also had a discussion and exchange with the outstanding alumni of YRCTI from Construction Bureau, and expressed their sympathy to the alumni who worked hard in overseas projects, hoping that they would often return to home country and continue to support the development of the alma mater. The alumni expressed their gratitude for the cultivation of alma mater, and put forward valuable suggestions for the development of the school from the aspects of school-enterprise cooperation and technical personnel training. It is reported that there are more than 20 alumni in the Construction Bureau alone, some of which have taken up leadership positions and become the backbone of the Construction Bureau.

In the long-term education practice, YRCTI adheres to the internationalized goal of "first-class at home and renowned in the world", actively following the "Belt and Road" initiative, and pursuing a new cooperation mode that fits the industry, cooperates enterprises, and integrates the market. Outstanding achievements have been achieved in the training of foreign technical personnel in schools and enterprises, and international scientific and technological services. The establishment of Zambia Dayu School serves as a new measure of YRCTI to support enterprises to "go global", which marks a substantial step forward for YRCTI's overseas education and opens a new era of YRCTI's international education. Based on serving the subsidiaries of Power Construction Corporation of China, Zambia Dayu School will cater to Zambia and radiate Southern Africa, providing high-quality technical talents for "going global" Chinese-funded enterprises to achieve localized management.
